Corpse Bride Face Painting Tutorial

Corpse Bride Make Up instructions

Here’s a cute Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride makeup look just in time for Halloween! This face painting example is quite involved but the results are worth it.

The Corpse Bride is a lovely Halloween costume and makeup idea for women and teens as well as for younger girls. She is just the right combination of prettiness and creepiness for those of us who want to look cute but still enter into the spirit of a horrible Halloween.

My face painting example below is mostly a combination of a couple of Corpse Bride makeup tutorial videos. I’ll share those further down. Some of the Corpse Bride face paint tutorials put a lot of effort into creating authentic cheek detail to match the Tim Burton Corpse Bride. That is fine if you have a steady hand and plenty of time to spare, and you can see an example in the first makeup video. But for newer face painters and those of you creating this on a not-too-patient friend or child, I recommend keeping it simple. In my face painting instructions I’ve used a similar detail to the one from the child Corpse Bride video instead.

How to do Cute Ghost Makeup for Girls and Women

Cute ghost makeup tutorial

So, you want to be a cute Halloween ghost? Well, this ghost makeup tutorial will help you to be the hottest ghost in town!

Just like with our cute Zombie girl makeup, there is no reason why a ghost can’t be cute. Kids look adorable with white faces but it isn’t exactly the most imaginative of Halloween face painting designs. After all, older kids and adults don’t want their friends to say, “Well, you didn’t try very hard”.

With this ghost face paint, that is not going to happen. This is the perfect ghost make up for teen girls and for women, which gives you a spooky but sophisticated look. Yes, not only will you look like a ghost, but you will look gorgeous at the same time. Problem solved!

If anyone looking for a ghost face painting for guys is reading, stay with me. Take a look at the below step by step ghost makeup tutorial (tip: if talking to your son, call it “ghost face paint” and not “makeup”!) and you will see that if you stop short of adding lipstick, mascara and eyebrow pencil you will have a ghost design that is great for guys. As with all these Halloween face painting tutorials, the key is to adapt the example to suit yourself.

Cheek Face Painting: A Halloween Spider Web

Spider Web Cheek Art Face Painting Design

Sometimes you don’t have time to paint a full face, or maybe you have a kid who isn’t keen on sitting still… or a teen or adult who likes something more subtle than the bold full face paintings.

Cheek face painting is ideal for these situations. And what better design for Halloween than a spider web?

This can be quite a quick and easy face painting design once you know how. I’m going to leave it to Stacy Parzik at expertvillage to do the explaining with this nice, clear face painting video tutorial.

The Joker — Creepy Clown Face Paint

The Joker creepy clown face from Batman

A lot of people are creeped out by clowns. I think we can (at least in part) blame Stephen King for that. And Batman, of course.

Jack Nicholson took the creepy clown comic-book figure of The Joker and brought him to life on our screens. More recently, Heath Ledger came along and gave us a new, even creepier reinterpretation of The Joker, before his own young life was cut short.

But the green-haired maniac with the creepy clown face is immortal. Many of us grew up with the comics or the first Batman movies, and kids now can almost all recognize The Joker, even those too young to watch the latest movie.

No wonder The Joker is a popular face painting design for all ages. Heath Ledger made this creepy villain a look that teens and tweens want to be seen with. And it is a look that never gets tired for adults, especially since Ledger’s makeup brought a new edge to it. Men who would normally shy away from face paint are going to look fantastic as The Joker. Of course, as the paint is anything but subtle and disguises your own features, a woman can wear the look just as well as a man.

Be King of the Jungle with Lion Face Paint

lion face paint example

Lion face paint is fun for all ages and is a jungle cat face painting design that will come in handy not just for Halloween costumes but also for stage productions of The Wizard of Oz or The Lion King.

Whether you need to paint a Simba or Nala, a Cowardly Lion, or just have a kid who is big cat crazy (and you don’t want to paint those tiger stripes), this lion face paint is the perfect basis for the king of animals.

You can use this example to create either a male lion or a lioness, or a little lion cub. To suggest a full grown male lion you will need to add a wig, hood or hairpiece to suggest a mane (unless you have big hair!).

This example is fine just as it is for a lioness or lion cub. You could always add a pair of cute cub ears on a hairband.

Pierrot is an Easy Clown Face Paint Design

Pierrot easy clown face paint design

Even if you think you don’t have an artistic bone in your body, give this Pierrot Clown face painting design a try. If you keep it basic, it doesn’t get much easier than this!

Clown face paint is popular with kids all year round. Of course, since circus clowns are usually played by adults, you can wear this face painting design at any age. It is a fun way to play with the paints without worrying too much about creating a perfect result.

One of the easiest clown faces of all is a Pierrot. This is the clown who wears a floppy white suit and is often shown crying. Pierrot is a traditional character from Italian theatrical productions of previous centuries who has remained popular today. He is a male clown but during the last century was frequently also painted as a female clown. So it is fine for either males or females to be a Pierrot.

If you don’t have a face paint kit you can easily and cheaply buy the paints for the Pierrot clown featured here. You only need white, black, and your choice of red or pink for any detail you wish to add.

How to be a Cute Dead Zombie Girl

Dead Zombie Girl

OK, so here’s a dilemma girls of all ages can identify with. You want to be a zombie this Halloween (or you are going to a Zombie Prom) and need to look scary and, well, dead. But you still want to look cute! Is it possible to have a cute dead zombie girl look? Find out with this female zombie face painting example!

Although this one is aimed at girls and women, there is no reason why the guys (of all ages) can’t use this zombie face painting as the basis for a Halloween look either.

If you are male, or if you are painting this on a boy, you will probably want more gore. Go for it! Add some wounds and lots of fake blood. Wear less eye makeup and make the eyebrows bushy or leave them off. You can easily adapt this zombie face paint for a more masculine (and more horrible) result.

A Devil Face Painting Example for your Inner Demon

Devil Face Painting Example

Go on, be a devil! This demon is a fun face painting idea for Halloween or any time you want to let your wicked side out. After all, if you are going to reveal your naughty side what could be more perfect than devil face makeup and of course a costume to go with it (got your pitchfork at the ready?).

The devil face painting is a great excuse to be dramatic with your paints with the intense red and black combination. I can just imagine this one with some yellow Devil-themed contact lenses.

Another advantage of devil face paint is that it is suitable for all the family. In fact many adults love to dress up as devils and she-devils (and not only at Halloween!). You might turn some heads but there is nothing childish about devil faint paint on a grown up. As for kids, well, just try keeping them away from this one! Seems there’s an inner demon in us all…
